BOOKS I READ: Gun Love by Jennifer Clement (2018). Margot and her daughter live in the parking lot for a trailer park in Florida. Their 1994 Mercury Topaz has flat tires, but a working battery for the radio. For fourteen years, Margot’s room is in the back; Pearl’s room is the front seat. Pearl goes to school with her best friend April May. They smoke stolen cigarettes by the river after school. When Eli shows up, and, with the local pastor, sets up a gun buy-back program, everything changes. Suddenly, everyone around Pearl seems to be in the gun-running business, even the friendly Mexicans next door, Ray and Corazón.
