Is the Disconnect Between the “Series” Round Name & Total Lifetime Funding Growing?

I’ve been wondering about this for awhile, and since it’s only Saturday and I already have my first interesting graph let’s write this one together in public.

I usually like to work with a smaller manageable set of data to explore a question and how to visualize the answer, before doing the bigger analysis. Here’s version 1 of the graph — which I think shows clearly this idea of “early A”, “late A”, “early B”, “late B” as well as a delineation of Seed 1 and Seed 2.

Does this make sense? What should I add, tweak, change or think about? Would it be valuable to make the same graph for the same period 5 years ago?
