This story is part of Matter Supply Co’s ongoing Inspirational Site Series. Once a month, we get together to share those experiences, old and new, that pique our interest, inspire us, and make us think.

Xbox Adaptive Controller

Designed for gamers with limited mobility, the Xbox Adaptive Controller is fully customizable to make sure everyone can get in on the action. The controller features programmable buttons that connect to almost any kind of physical input: switches, buttons, mounts, and joysticks.

Battle of the Brands

Battle of the Brands lets you pick two companies and throw them into a head to head competitor analysis challenge. See who has the most mentions in the last 30 days, the percentage of positive to negative mentions with the top 5 sources, and their average scores for your chosen brands.

Assistant Skills

This year at E3, game developer and publisher, Bethesda teased a “Very Special Edition” of Skyrim that ran on Alexa. Meant to poke fun at how many platforms and re-releases the game has gone through — it was no joke. Through expanded skills Alexa and Google Home simplify If This, Then That recipes, tackle mundane tasks and can even help prevent WW3 by helping you decide where to go eat with your significant other.

Nvidia’s Slomo AI

Using NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPUs and cuDNN-accelerated PyTorch deep learning framework, developers are now able to expand a 30fps (frames per second) video into beautiful, buttery 240fps visual smoothness. It takes two still frames and fills in between, creating multiple intermediate frames — thus making videos look fluid, less choppy and less blurry.

Sift

Sift is a site that crowd-sources recommendations for games. Just type in your favorite game and then Sift will show you which titles other people have endorsed for similar traits. Sift also has a TV show site, where their filters allow you to select which streaming services you do and don’t have. Never let your food go cold while you browsing Netflix to pick a show. ever. again.

The Eponymous Laws of Tech

Dave Rupert has collected a whole mess of amusing, eponymously named laws that apply to a lot of things we touch everyday in the tech industry. Our favorite being Jeff Bezos’ Law of Two Pizzas:

“Any team should be small enough that it could be fed with two pizzas.”

Who officiates these laws? How does one create their own law? We have no clue. But to Mr. Bezos, we rebuke with the Matter Supply Co Law of Pizza Power, “Thou whomst cannot eateth thy pizza, pays the bar tab.”

Flexbox Froggy

Flexbox Froggy is a game built to teach Flexbox and how to write CSS by guiding Froggy and his other amphibious friends to their respective color-coordinated lily pads. It’s a great way to see your programming choices, instantly and satisfy any Frogger nostalgia.

Micro Frontends

https://micro-frontends.org/

“Micro Frontends is to think about a website or web app as a composition of features which are owned by independent teams.”

Each team focuses on a single goal of the website from beginning to end. Micro Frontends are often referred to as Microservices because of their focus on functionality specific segments. We think team to team platform autonomy is a really interesting dev planning method.

App Maker

https://gsuite.google.com/products/app-maker/#

GSuite is powerful and App Maker is no exception. It’s made to help businesses tackle simple digital processes with minimal code demands. You start by creating your page with a template reflecting your goals or with a drag-and-drop UI. Once launched, your page is backed by Google’s Adam West-level utility belt of analytics and services. Holy functionality, Batman!

Loving Vincent

lovingvincent.com/

Made up of over 65,000 frames — Loving Vincent is the first movie to ever be fully animated with oil paintings. Created in the same style as Van Gogh himself, the team at BreakThru Studios started each shot with a complete painting on canvas board. Then their team would paint over and go, shot for shot, until the last frame.
