Matterverse Dev Diary Updates Jun 11
Hi there, happy weekend!
I know all of you are eager to join Matterverse’s beta and I did promise you that the beta would have been dropped on June 12….. That doesn’t seem likely unless invent time travel…
So, why the delay?
There are two main reasons:
One is plain and simple, we ran into some bugs that blocked NFT items to be properly displayed within our world. But we got that out of the way, now you can safely and confidently trade and showcase your NFTs in Matterverse! 🎊
The second reason is that we wanted to add more features than just “build your avatar and social”. I think we have already built one of the most impressive metaverse systems out there, but it is kinda hollow for now. Our original goal is to attract a lot of developers and designers to build contents with us together, while that’s still going well. We have to think about how can we give you guys a great experience from Day 1. So we have started building more fun stuff!
What Is Coming Next?
1. We have developed a basic POAP system to reward community participation, contribution and partnerships. The POAP is call The Builder NFT (or Builderz for short), and you will be able to exchange it for our #MATT token at 1:1 rate at IDO. You can find more info here Community Incentive Program
2. Who doesn’t love some awesome NFT homes? Our new NFT system now supports NFT homes that you can buy, own, decorate, live in, rent out, and sell. Just like a real house! You will be able to invite friends over, host parties, play games etc. We are thinking about adding a NFT pass system as well, so you can sort give your keys to friends and families. TBH, I’m tired of NFT “real-estates” that’s still just pictures and cartoonish rooms.
3. A better looking and simpler Avatar system. Initially, we started as a B2B company serving some of the largest fashion brands in the world. That had carried a bit into our current avatar. We wanted to make it super customizable… Imagine you can export your avatar’s measurement and a tailor would be able to make real cloth for you with that…. Turned out that’s a bit too much. People want to be their better selves in the metaverse and not having 1:1 replicas. So we overhauled our avatar to make them look cooler, nicer and simpler.
4. Free Build Arena + PARKOUR! Yeah, we decide to take some inspiration from traditional games to give our players a more fun experience from Day 1. You will be able to enter the Free Build Arena and build just like Minecraft and jump around in style. A full Assasin’s Creed- like parkour system is also on our timeline…..
5. We added the option for players to download our game client to experience Matterverse on your own gaming PCs (coming to consoles in the future). The cloud platform will still be our primary channel, but we will add a cloud pass system to help us control cost. Everyone will be able to earn free cloud passes by complete community tasks. We will also regularly give out free cloud passes to our partner organizations, streamers & KOLs to reward their fans. Lastly, you can buy cloud passes directly from us, and any official NFT sell will include a cloud pass as a bonus.
Key Timeline & How You Can Participate
- June 11 — June 24: We will be building out partnerships, collaborations with guild, streamers, KOLs, etc. To promote our big launch. So if you are interested to a collab or want to introduce us to someone, please reach out!
- June 27- June 30: Avatar Free Mint Phase 1. Partner organizations and individuals will be able to claim and free mint their avatars in advance without having to wait in queues or pay any gas fee.
- July 1- July 7: Avatar Free Mint Phase 2. Public launch of MatterAvatar. Everyone will be able to participate but the total supply of free mint will be limited to 3333.
NOTE: We will only accommodate a limited amount of users to create their avatar at once, so expect a long queue time of up to 30 minutes. However, we will release a list of tasks for you to complete during your queue to earn free NFTs and queue skip passes.
- July 8-July 15: Avatar Mint Phase 3. Players will have to pay a gas fee to claim their avatar, but will still be able to create their virtual identity for free.
- July 8-July 31： MatterCity, our open world will be avavilible to all! You can enter MatterCity with your avatar and your NFTs to experience the future.
So, that’s it! We had some setbacks but the future is still coming sooner than you think.
