Some people simplify.
Others complicate.
I have had the lifelong habit
of complicating the simplicity.
But I’m working on it.

Some have never been in a fight.
Others can’t walk down the street
without getting into an argument.
I can make it to the store without
throwing down, but I will argue
the paint off the side of a building.

Some wallow in existential angst.
Others embrace life coming at them.
My personal brand of existentialism
these days is somewhat longer on
bemusement than self-flagellation.

Maybe not the wisdom of age, but
we can hope not the folly of hubris.
