10 LGBTQ Television Couples We Miss

We all enjoy a good love story that inspires and gives us all the feels. Our favorite TV shows would have been so boring without couples who made us want to believe in love and root for them. It is also great that we can relate to these couples as they go through the ups and downs of keeping a relationship alive. We relate to the pain of betrayal, loss and every other aspect of their life because we have been there as well. These LGBT couples definitely inspired us and we miss them terribly.
BOB AND LEE (DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES)
Bob and Lee were definitely a great addition to the ever interesting Wisteria Lane neighborhood. The fun fact about them was that they were not the typical couple who shared a lot of common interests for example , Bob was into sports particularly golfing and Lee was into musicals but surprisingly that only served to strengthen their bond. Their biggest challenge was perhaps dealing with the pressure of trying to be parents and at one point it almost broke them apart. Luckily, they were able to get past that and remain together till the end.
CLARKE AND LEXA (THE 100)
At first the love between these two different alpha female characters in an evolved dystopian world seemed impossible. They had a lot of difficult choices to make for the survival of their people and most of the time their best interests clashed leading to major repercussions. In the end, these two leaders were able to unite to fight a common enemy and ensure the future of mankind. Unfortunately, Lexa was accidentally killed by one of her most trusted subjects bringing this love story to a teary end. However, even in death Lexa still managed to help Clarke through some sticky situations, giving a new meaning to the saying true love never dies.
KURT AND BLAINE (GLEE)
This was one of the most talked about relationship in terms of representation of the LGBT community on popular television. It got the audience talking about acceptance and showed a new generation of teenagers they should be proud of who they are. Kurt and Blaine had a far from perfect relationship but they worked together to iron out their issues and stayed together. In the end, they had a beautiful wedding which went on to crown their endless love.
OLIVER AND CONNOR (HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER)
As with the norm in this show, this relationship started with Connor doing everything possible to give Annalise Keating an upper hand in a case. One thing led to another and they found themselves falling in love. Eventually Oliver ends up tied in the many dangerous secrets of the Keating 5 but he chooses to stay with Connor and get married. Even the the show is not over yet, we are going to miss these two.
CALLIE AND ARIZONA (GREY’S ANATOMY)
In the beginning Callie was meant to be with George O’Malley but sometimes things don’t go as planned. This couple tried their best to beat all odds that life threw at them. They endured heartache after heartache but stuck together and sailed through the turbulent times. They both experienced a traumatic accident, difficulties of starting a family and infidelity. In the end, they called it quits but at least they gave it their all. They also showed us that a relationship is more than just love it is work, making extremely tough choices and living with the consequences.
PIPER AND ALEX (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK )
They have one of the most dramatic love stories on TV. It is not every day that you go to prison and meet your ex. It is even harder to rekindle a relationship in the confinement of prison but they made it work. One can say they enjoyed breaking the law together because it gave them a thrill.
IAN AND MICKEY (SHAMELESS)
Ahh! Young love is just so sweet and full of promise. These were just two adorable boys who ended up falling for each other. In the customary millennial fashion, their relationship bloomed from a series of hookups. Ian’s love gave Mickey the courage to come out to his family. These two showed us how love can make us better people. It was not your ideal romantic relationship but it was real and grounded. They managed to keep what they had even through numerous breakups, prison stints and infidelity.
BRITTANY AND SANTANA ( GLEE)
Their romance was encapsulated by the typical drama of a teenage love story. At first they started as friends then progressed to friends with benefits. There was the moment where they really didn’t know what this new level to their relationship meant but decided to be a couple. The break-up and make-up moments followed and finally they fought all odds and ended up getting married. Given that this was Brittany’s first love it reminded us how beautiful, scary and confusing first loves can be.
EMILY AND MAYA (PLL)
Maya was the first person who gave Emily the courage to admit that she liked girls and be comfortable with who she was. They went through the ringer given that in the beginning Emily’s’ parents were not accepting of her sexuality. They considered Maya as a bad influence and that put some strain on their relationship. Maya’s trip to rehab, the life-threatening secrets they kept from each other and the interference of A made this a very difficult relationship. They however remained committed to each other until Maya’s untimely demise.
KEVIN AND SCOTTY( BROTHERS AND SISTERS)
If there were ever two people perfect for each other, it has to be Kevin and Scotty. Kevin motivated Scotty to be a better and more responsible person. The best thing about this relationship was how well Scotty blended in Kevin’s large family and was always ready to be there for them. Their relationship definitely went through the most trying of times but they learnt the power of forgiveness and this made them stronger. They reminded us of how warm love can be and that it allows us to be part of a different beautiful family.
