Pride Month is just days away! A big part of what we celebrate is our stories and film and television are one of the best ways we keep our history alive. If you are looking for some amazing queer pop culture projects to watch this upcoming Pride Month, then look no further. We have got you! Here is a list of all the things to look forward to this June.

Never Have I Ever (Netflix)

At last, the story of Devi is sadly coming to a wrap and fans can’t wait for the premiere of the fourth season on June 8th. The show is about Devi, a young Indian high school student who is going through the most. And yes, Devi’s troubles are all-encompassing but some of us are excited to see what happens to our girl Fabiola. Fabiola is openly out and is also looking for love. I wonder who she will be dating in this new season and what lies ahead of her.

Gays on Broad Way by Ethan Mordden

Ethan Mordden is a household name in American musical theater and the literary world. Some of his best-known fictional works include 1985’s I Have a Feeling We’re Not in Kansas Anymore. His other works are mostly non-fiction such as That Jazz which is a cultural history of the American 1920s. It comes as no surprise that The New York Times has termed the 76-year-old author as one of the “ruminators on popular culture”

Mordden is releasing a new book on June 1st entitled Gays on Broadway. The book talks about the history and influence of gay men and lesbians in the American theatre. It will also talk about the impact and importance of queer American theatre. I think it will make for a fascinating read and can hardly wait to read it.

The Ultimatum: Queer Love (Netflix)

Technically, the show started in late May but the finale falls in June. Now, we all know that a reality show is all about a good finale and we are excited to see how this one pans out. The Ultimatum: Queer Love follows five queer couples made up of women and non-binary individuals as they address the elephant in their relationship- the next step. What happens when one partner is ready to say their vow and the other is full of doubts? I guess we will have to tune in to find out which couple will be getting their happily ever after.

Janelle came out as pansexual in 2018 . She later explained in 2022 that she is non-binary. She is expected to release her new album on June 9th. She said that the album is “rooted in self-acceptance, throbbing in self-discovery.” Based on the first single on the album, single “Lipstick Lover, we are in for some amazing sultry music and some great representation. In her latest interview, Janelle told Billboard that she doesn’t feel obligated to talk about queer representation but she finds power in discussing these issues through her art. I for one can’t wait to see what she will bless our ears and eyes with.

Nimona (Netflix)

If you are a fan of anime then you might want to check your Netflix subscription status because Nimona is finally dropping this June. This ND Stevenson’s best-selling graphic novel was initially meant to be developed by 20th Century Fox and then Disney. Netflix finally stepped in and revived the movie and it will premiere on 14th June.

There you have it, let us know what you are most excited to see or read this Pride Month. In the meantime, I hope we all get to enjoy our Pride Month, Lord knows we deserve it.
