8 Pride Collections You’ll Actually Want to Wear
by Judy Bokao
Pride month has arrived and with it a wave of rainbow-flagged merchandise. We’ve waded through the mess of aggressively marketed corporate collections to find 8 affordable collections that actually center LGBTQ+ artists and directly give back to the community. What will you be wearing?
Morphe’s “Made with Pride” Makeup Collection
This limited collection is inspired by the colors of the Progress Pride flag. The collection has two versatile eyeshadow palettes– one matte and one shimmery. A pack of face/body gems, and a selection of eye brushes comes in the limited-edition belt bag with a colorful rainbow strap. The “Made with Pride” makeup collection price ranges from $8-$26. They will be donating 100 percent of the net proceeds of the collection to the Trevor Project.
Gender-Neutral Eyewear from National Vision
The latest collection from National Vision is gender-neutral and stylish. The crystal and rainbow sunglasses are perfect for a summer beach day, and $25,000 of the proceeds will be donated to the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
T-Shirts from the Kohls X Phluid Project
This is probably one of the best clothing collections this year– Kohls is a massive brand in every suburb across the country and Phluid Project is an LGBTQ+ owned, gender-free fashion brand. Check out their “ask me my pronouns,” t-shirts in their empowering collection. Prices range from $14–35 and Kohls is also committing to donating $100,000 to The Trevor Project in honor of the collection.
“Move, I’m Gay” T-Shirt from Target Pride collection
You have got to have a little sass and the best way to express it is through your clothes. This t-shirt is perfect for summer meet-ups with friends and family. It is being sold at only $13- why not show up in Pride style?
Converse “Found Family” Shoes
This year the Pride month campaign for Converse is named “The Found Family.” They are shining a rainbow on LGBTQ+ chosen families with their glittery shoes. Check out their Pride collection on their website.
“Love is Love” Mug from BGW Pride
The BGW Pride store is the official Black Gay Weddings Online Store. Their Pride mug collection is worth checking out. In addition to being stylish, the mugs have an anti-scald handle design that protects you from being scalded by boiling water. Tea! The mugs are being sold at $24.95 and directly support the LGBTQ+ Community of Color.
Pride Phone Cases from Casetify
In Casetify’s latest pride collection, they have utilized vibrant colors to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. They will be donating $5 for every purchase of the Pride case to The Christopher Street West Association, a nonprofit of LA Pride.
Dresses, Eyewear, and more from the Lane Bryant Pride Collection
This year Lane Bryant is celebrating Pride month with style and inclusivity. Their plus size clothing for Pride 2022 is full of amazing choices from dresses to eyewear and they have great offers as well.
