Never has the thought of foreign policy gotten our senses tingling with excitement like this. When Amazon Studios finally dropped the official poster for Red, White & Royal Blue, we all collectively swooned. The excitement was heightened further when it was announced that the anticipated movie would drop on August 11th 2023.

Red, White & Royal Blue is based on a 2019 LGBT romance novel by Casey McQuiston by the same name. The film tells the story of a romantic rendezvous between the son of the President of the United States and the Prince of England. There is also an enemy-to-lovers angle as these two have had a long-standing feud since they were kids. Who doesn’t love a good enemies-to-lovers trope?

After one of their meetings turns into an international scandal, the two are forced to do some heavy damage control. They start a fake “friendship” to restore their public image and minimize damage to their reputation. As expected one thing leads to another and before they know it, feelings start to blossom between them. Thus begins one of the best star-crossed, gay love stories ever told.

What Do We Know About The Movie?

The movie is directed by Matthew Lopez and co-written with Ted Malawer. Production officially began in June 2022 and we get to finally see the film on August 11, this summer.

Ellen is Alex’s mom and the newly appointed President of the United States

Based on an Instagram post shared by Director Matthew López, production went smoothly and he is extremely thrilled to be working with these amazing actors. The Director shared a behind-the-scenes pic of Taylor and Nicholas having a few laughs as they read their scripts. He captioned the post saying, “ “It’s been a joy to watch Henry and Alex come to life in the room. Excited to make this movie with them. Here we go!”

Taylor and Nicholas have also been teasing us with a few videos behind the scenes of the movie and we already love their chemistry.
