Heartbreaks are always hard, even when they happen to our favorite couples on TV. Let’s be honest, sometimes we are too invested in our favorite dramas and when the characters we are rooting for don’t end up together, we can’t help but be crushed. Here are the LGBTQ+ TV break-ups that had us crying and curled up in our feelings.
Rue and Jules in Euphoria
Euphoria gave us all the feels this season and we are still in awe of the finale. I am not sad about Rue and Jules’ break-up. I think we are all on the same page when it comes to this, but what broke my heart was the way they broke up. Rue lost it upon learning that Jules ratted her out to her mom about using drugs. Rue frantically confronted Jules and said some harsh things to her. Those words must felt like sucker-punches to Jules, and to the millions of fans rooting for them.
Ander and Omar in Elite
The love story between Ander and Omar is one hell of a ride. It will frustrate you as much as it will melt your heart. This young couple has been through their share of trials from dealing with homophobic parents to Ander’s cancer. Even though they are meant to be together and always find a way to each other, it is still complicated to say the least. At the end of season 4, fans were left worried whether there will be another chance for Ander and Omar in the next season.
Tharn and Type in TharnType
This is one of the most beloved Boys Love stories from Thailand with a mass following all over the world. Their break-up scene left us devastated and shattered to the core. Everything from their expressions to the words they said felt too real and raw and sliced through viewers’ hearts. We all related to the devastating moment when someone we loved walked away even after you pleaded with them to stay. Fortunately, they were able to get through this hard-hitting moment and get back together.
T.K and Carlos in 9.1.1: Lone Star
Their break-up was an agonizing mystery at the beginning of season 3. Fans wondered what could have happened to one of their favorite couples in this action-drama show. Turns out, T.K panicked about things going too well when Carlos paid for their dream home but listed T.K. as a co-owner. This grand gesture threw T.K for a loop and in classic self-sabotage, he ended up breaking it off with Carlos. Their reconciliation was anything but easy but luckily, they managed to get back on the same page.
Clarke and Lexa in 100
Clarke and Lexa came from different worlds and their differences gave them a rocky start. The first time they met, they were at war with one another, and they were both trying to protect their people. Things became even more strained when the decisions they made as leaders of their clans forced them to betray each other. It wasn’t until season 3 that we saw them start liking each other and work together to bring peace. Unfortunately, their enemy-to-lovers relationship came to a crashing halt just as soon as it began. Lexa was accidentally killed by her own guard, and although Clarke desperately tried to save Lexa, they were unsuccessful.
Emily and Maya in Pretty Little Liars
The first time Maya and Emily met, they instantly took a liking to each other. Maya was outgoing and Emily was introverted. Maya helped Emily come to terms with her sexuality and her grief. She was also the first girl Emily dated. Sadly, in Rosewood, secrets and stalkers always have a way of catching up with you. Maya went missing, and her body was later found in Emily’s backyard. Her killer was revealed to be her deranged ex-boyfriend Lyndon James who had been stalking her.
