Over 7.8 billion people in the world are quarantined in their homes and are bored beyond their minds. This pandemic has decimated the core social fabric of most societies globally. People are working from home and are locked in with few family members and we all can relate that it can be a trying experience to be cooped up with the same people day after day. And yes, we miss our friends, eating out, going for events and our daily routine. However staying at home through this pandemic does not necessarily have to be boring. Here are some jams that will make make your heart burst with pride as you dance away the minutes until Pride season.

STUPID LOVE | LADY GAGA

Lady Gaga is one of the biggest pop stars in the world and her new single does not disappoint following her hiatus from music. This euphoric jam is the classic Lady Gaga with the genre-fluid landscape, the out-of-this-world outfits, and last but not least — the dancing. This is a good-feeling song that it will get you up on your feet. The video itself is vivid and colorful paying homage to 60s sci-fi. It is unapologetically exuberant sound with just the right amount of indomitable goofy spirit which is bound to be refreshing. Besides, we all need to find a way to put our anxiety away. The message of the song comes at the right time too, as Lady Gaga calls for some civility and unity. She seems to be yearning for unity and togetherness in this fractured world. Let us face it, we can all relate to that at this trying pandemic time.

VELVET | ADAM LAMBERT

Adam Lambert recently released the single Velvet from his long-awaited fourth studio album. The video has the sultry 70’s funk rock that has fueled his latest release. Velvet has a modern retro sound with a smooth yet fuzzy synth. It is a campy visual with an interesting twist of how he is looking for the perfect man. Lambert admits that for this album and song he leaned far into his queerness. It has the over the top moments and has a lush decadent feel but intimate and popping at the same time. Fans are already calling it their lockdown anthem. The song is definitely a mood we are all aspiring to be in. Adam Lambert did not let his fans down; it is no wonder they are currently obsessed with this jam.

BORN THIS WAY | LADY GAGA

It has always been clear that Lady Gaga is an advocate for LGBTQ equality. This song was released in 2011 and has helped young queer teens be proud of being different. When Mother Monster blessed the world with this tune, she empowered them to be kind and brave. It reminds the world that a having a different kind of lover is not a sin. This relentless, shameless sledgehammer of a song will always be a hit. It is inspires an exhilarating, happily vigorous upbeat tempo that will lift your spirits and remind you to be proud of who you are no matter what the world is going through.

NAILS, HAIR, HIPS, HEELS | TODRICK HALL

This banger served us some amazing moves that we were certainly not ready for! The fierceness of it all had us all awed. The choreography itself will give you life. The song is simply sensational and fun. NHHH is the sort of song that breeds confidence and is meant to be a mainstay at the club. It is the kind of song that begs you to dance and blast it at full volume. It will also give you the nostalgic feeling of what it is like dressing up to go out in the good old days before the Coronavirus sent us inside. The remix with Ciara is also a definite listen. It is unapologetically gay and I love it!

VOGUE | MADONNA

Thirty years in, and this song is still relevant and one of the best LGBTQ pride song anthems of all time. Who doesn’t love a classic? It is a cultural phenomenon. The song is one of the best openly queer forms of art. It is a heavy disco song that will get you pumped and ready to get through the day in high spirits while being an indispensable Pride anthem that oozes with creativity. Also one can never go wrong with Madonna, she is an LGBTQ activist icon.

As you try and find new ways to have a great time during the quarantine, listen to some amazing songs that will keep your spirits up and boost your morale. Keeping safe is important but so is de-stressing and feeling good about yourself.
