If you are like me, you have been in quarantine for a few months now. You’ve been working or doing school from home and trying to stay as safe as possible as the second wave of COVID-19 approaches but there is only so much to do inside and so many things to do before you get bored. I have hit a boredom low a few times these past few months, but these shows helped to break me out of it. All of these shows I had never seen until quarantine and I definitely recommend you watch especially if you are running low on things to do.

The X-Files —

I never said the shows on this list would be new! This monster-of-the-week sci-fi thriller show first started to air 1993. It follows the story of two FBI agents whose work on a series of cases called the X-files which are cases that could never be solved for one reason or another — usually something alien or supernatural. This show has 11 seasons and 2 movies so there’s a lot to get lost in. Be warned, however, this show can be very graphic and does show and cover many sensitive topics.

Sex Education —

This Netflix original TV show follows the high school aged son of a sex therapist who starts to sell sex advice to his classmates. It is a hilarious show following a group of teenagers who try to find their way through adolescence, puberty, and sex. This show is very LGBTQ+ friendly and shows many different queer identities. So far this show only has two seasons, but a third will hopefully come soon. This show just like the last does also cover some sensitive topics as well, so viewer discretion is advised.

Avatar the Last Airbender —

It is kind of crazy that I had never seen this amazing animated TV show until it was released on Netflix recently. This show was a classic of many people’s childhoods that is worth a binge, even if you have seen it before. It has three seasons and follows the Avatar who is a master of all four elements. At least he will be — once he learns how to — so that he can stop the war started by the fire nation. This beautifully animated kids TV show will suck you in to its fantasy world where some people are capable of bending one of the four elements Earth, Water, Fire or Air. I don’t want to spoil much more but if you haven’t seen it, yet it really is a must watch. Check out Alyssa’s post about it being a “sapphic dream.”

Magic is for Humans —

This reality TV show with three seasons follows Justin Willman, who is a magician. Throughout the show, he uses different magic tricks and illusions to punk unsuspecting volunteers. This show is honestly hilarious, and you wouldn’t believe some of the tricks he manages to pull off. Not to spoil too much, but in one episode he uses a fake machine to trick people into actually believing that the government implanted tracking chips into them — its wild. This show will make your jaw drop and laugh until you cry.
