MAUVSA Financial Transparency
On October 2014, we, the executive board decided to take the next step as a 501(c)(3) by taking up grant writing as an alternative to fund our initiatives, learn more about non-profit finance, and explore possibilities to advance the organization.
Now, in 2015, we are increasing our transparency with our finances as a form of best practice inspired and encouraged by former MAUVSA president Stephen Nguyen’s Sustainability and Transparency Grant. As a part of the grant, we were required to meet certain criteria to receive an additional $3,000 in 2016. The criteria consisted of:
- Applying to 2 grants every 6 months. 4 total per year.
- Make the following information available on the website: inventory of year’s budgetary costs, conference cost, and donors.
On our webpage, the public will have access to view our balance sheet and the grants we have applied to. But since our webpage is under construction, we have provided an example of what will be implemented in the upcoming weeks.
