Maverick Protocol 2024 Outlook
On March 8, 2023, Maverick Protocol launched its dynamic distribution AMM on the Ethereum mainnet. The first of its kind, Maverick AMM is a set of smart contracts developed over the course of two years, designed to unlock a new level of freedom in liquidity provision in DeFi.
The success Maverick has achieved in the following months serves as a proof of concept for its innovations:
- Supported over $17 billion in trading volume over 9 months.
- Ranked as high as #2 DEX by 24 hr volume across all chains according to DeFiLlama.
- Adopted by 50+ projects.
These results have established Maverick as the most flexible and efficient liquidity solution provider in DeFi.
Following the launch of its utility token $MAV in June, Maverick has attracted a growing number of builders who are developing applications on top of its technology and tools to help further Maverick’s vision: a future where DeFi is the backbone of personal and institutional finance, secured by deep on-chain liquidity that is active and available to users of all kinds.
However, 2023 has just been the beginning. Empowered with nearly a year of robust on-chain data and invaluable community feedback, supported by a vibrant ecosystem of friends and builders, and backed by a community of over 120,000 members, Maverick is poised to make even bigger strides in the market.
2024 will be a landmark year for the Maverick community as it continues on its path of innovation and expansion.
Innovation
Launch of Maverick AMM v2
Maverick AMM is a dynamic distribution AMM featuring customizable liquidity distributions and automated liquidity movement modes. It provides maximal flexibility for liquidity providers to deploy any liquidity strategy on chain, from simple range-based liquidity to fully automated active liquidity management.
One of the benefits of these automated liquidity movement modes is higher capital efficiency. Over the past nine months, the modes have proven to work effectively at keeping liquidity active for both stablecoin pairs and natively-yielding tokens such as liquid staking tokens and liquid restaking tokens.
With the benefit of real on-chain data and metrics, Maverick’s core developers have been working hard on Maverick AMM v2, which among other benefits is expected to bring further optimizations to the AMM’s gas free structure.

Introduction of the Maverick voting-escrow model
The launch of Maverick AMM v2 will coincide with the launch of Maverick’s voting-escrow model (ve-model), otherwise known as the Maverick Phase 3 launch.
Maverick DEX will support an omnichain ve-model, providing token projects and LPs with native cross-chain liquidity management and incentivization tools.
Maverick’s ve-model is designed to solve the unsustainable pain points in existing ve-model designs.
The classic ve-model presents two major challenges:
- Tendency to become a monopoly where whales run the show and new participants can’t gain traction.
- Emissions inefficiencies where protocol incentives are distributed regardless of their benefit to the ecosystem; for example, low-volume tokens get outsized emissions simply by being early to the ve ecosystem.
At launch, Maverick’s core developers are proposing to add a few twists to the classic ve-model design with the aim of addressing these challenges:
- Incentives-based Emissions
MAV incentives emissions will be a function of both voting and the amount of external rewards added to a Boosted Position in the previous epoch. This aligns MAV emissions not just with the will of veMAV voters, but also with protocols looking to cultivate liquidity through Boosted Positions.
2. MAV Emissions Cap
MAV emissions will also be capped by an amount that is a function of the amount of external incentives sent to Boosted Positions in the emission epoch. This prevents the protocol from over-emitting in periods of time where LPs and protocols are not active on Maverick.
3. LP Emission Boost
LPs will also receive a boost to their emission based on their pro-rata holdings in the BP and their current veMAV balance.
The Phase 3 ve-model and Maverick AMM v2 will launch simultaneously to ensure an efficient and powerful upgrade of Maverick’s entire toolset.

Community is the core of Maverick. In 2024, Maverick expects to launch more community reward programs, including a number of quest-to-earn community education and onboarding programs. It is also looking forward to collaborating with new and OG DeFi communities to build a better DeFi community globally.
