Delightful Dipika
Kind-hearted fifth-grader has a passion for art and anime.

Background noise fills the air as Dipika tries to find a quiet place in her house to complete her virtual school work of meeting with her Bethel Buddy over Google Meet. This can be a challenging task when you have a house full of five other siblings, all of whom are boys. That’s right. Dipika is the only girl in her family with five brothers. She isn’t a fan of being the only girl and says that she wishes she had a sister. Dipika did luck out and has one girl cousin.
“She is like my best friend and also my sister,” said Dipika.

Indie music gradually replaced the background noise as Dipika continued to meet with her Bethel Buddy. Dipika speaks three other languages besides English: Indie, Hindi, and Nepali. Her family moved to the United States when Dipika was a young girl. She doesn’t remember much of it. She did, however, mention missing her childhood best friend from Nepali who has the same name as her but with a different spelling.
“We had to move to America. I was little so I don’t remember.” said Dipika. Her favorite food from Nepal is called a Momo Samosa which is a fried dumpling, similar to a Chinese Potsticker.
In her free time, Dipika is a very talented drawer. She enjoys drawing her favorite Anime characters.
“I think I have too many pictures on my school IPad,” said Dipika as she scrolled through her camera roll for one minute. In her free time, she enjoys drawing on her iPad because it looks cleaner. Characters with blue, pink, and red hair fill and leave the screen as she proudly shows off her unique artwork.
