Remember this guy? Maybe?

Two posts in a row have needed to be double days. Earlier in this month-long challenge I missed a day entirely. It’s so tempting to throw in the towel but of course I won’t. Still, the self-criticism is rough.

Why do we do that to ourselves? We criticise ourselves so readily. The effect of having to create these two double posts after having a series of overly full and anxiety-producing days, is just more anxiety. No thanks. So I will persist.

Cash only. The lineup’s out the door. “Double double” … “Double double” Over and over and over on more street corners than not, these well honed teams got patrons through and out the other side double double in hand, ready to face another caffeinated day. I was never even a coffee drinker yet this institution mattered so much to me that I truly missed it when I moved out West. That brown and yellow awning, which eventually got its makeover to red and tan, is a rarity out here. We’re close to Seattle, you see, so it’s all green awnings, white cups and mermaids. Not-straightforward-sizes and drizzles and toppings out of shakers. Funny, isn’t it — nostalgia.

(Of course I couldn’t title a post like this without making some attempt at referencing Tim’s, right?)

See you back here tomorrow, friends.
