Amanda Krause joined May’s People team in December after years of experience in HR management in the automotive industry. Right away, Amanda knew she had joined the right team. “When did you know you were a fit here?” we asked her. “I actually mean this: it was during the interview,” she says, “I interviewed with several Mayniacs and found them all to be very genuine in their excitement about the company. They all had this sparkle in their eye about it. I was pumped after the interview! I was like, ‘I want to work with these people!’”

Amanda is May’s Senior Manager of People (HR) Operations. She helps people grow and develop to reach their goals and gets to touch every part of the organization. “I’m not hands-on in the development of a May autonomous shuttle, but I play an important role in supporting and developing the people who do, which ensures they feel ready to contribute.”

In her months at May so far, Amanda gets to be inspired directly by the people she supports. Working at May is a great opportunity to work with such a diverse group of people, and one of the best things about May is the inclusivity. “People are free to be themselves here,” Amanda says, “and there is a wide range of interests and backgrounds represented.” Twice a month a different Mayniac hosts a Lunch Topic, a conversation had over lunch, and topics range from making your own pasta to having a jam session.

One way Amanda has grown in her new role is in learning to consider the bigger picture. May’s mission is to create a safer, greener, and more accessible world through autonomous mobility. “In past roles I’ve been focused on my specific role, but at May I’m thinking about that larger impact,” she says. There are ample opportunities to get involved and connect with your colleagues outside of your individual work. Amanda is on the Culture Committee, an internal team of Mayniacs who discuss company culture and how it will change as we grow (we plan to double in size this year!).

Outside of work, Amanda likes to spend time outside with her husband and two kids. “We’re lake people,” she says, “We like to spend summers on the boat and we’re teaching our kids to ski this winter.”

Amanda’s contributions to May’s onboarding and orientation, employee wellness program, and company COVID-19 response have been just a few of the projects Amanda has worked on since she joined. Thank you for your amazing work, Amanda!

We’re looking to add more Mayniacs across the autonomy, field operations, software, finance, people, and product teams. If May sounds like a company you’re interested in, check out our open positions at maymobility.com/careers!
