We’re excited at Maya to be launching our beta this week! For the next few months we are going to be iterating alongside a handful of early adopting partners to refine the technology and programs that serve patients in recovery.

The Problems Maya Solves

Over the last 6 months our team has spoken to dozens of orthopedic surgery patients, physicians, PA’s, PT’s, and nurses. What we found was an amazing group of patients and providers whose goals are aligned but can be frustrated because of difficulty in communication.

  • Patients have trouble understanding and remembering every detail of their care plan, and they look to the many members of their team for answers.
  • Physicians see so many patients that they don’t get to put in the effort they would like with each individual.
  • Clinicians are disenfranchised with technology that doesn’t fit in with their workflows (so they just stop using it).

How Maya Solves These Problems

Our partners are using Maya to fill the space between patient interactions to answer patient questions, give reminders, and provide reassurance. Maya is able to have a conversation with patients that is similar to text messaging, and she understands the overall recovery path of patients after surgery, as well as the protocols and regimens prescribed by their physician. Maya continues to learn about the patient over time, and adapts her approach to meet the patient where they are, providing greater effectiveness within each interaction.

In addition, we continue to be thoughtful about clinical workflows to ensure that both giving patients access to Maya and utilizing Maya’s insights is seamless for clinicians within regular patient care.

How We Are Starting

Maya is currently being applied by Orthopedic Surgeons to enhance their patient outreach and education programs in order to save time (therefore saving money) and to improve the outcomes for their patients. This group of early adopting practices are excited about Maya because of the impact she can have on their practice, and because they believe simply that their “patients will love it.”

We want people to love using Maya, and our next challenge is to prove that Maya creates a measurable improvement in their lives.

Thank you to the team behind Maya for great and continuing work, and thank you to the friends of Maya who helped us get to this point.
