Hi guys! It’s time for another community update. Today we would be talking about an exciting feature in the Mazzuma ecosystem; our chatbots.
CHATBOTS
A bot also known as web robots, is a software that performs an automated task. The most popular chatbots include Siri, Alexa, Cortana and Google Assistant, found in our phones . These are A.I-based chatbots that interact with the user through text and speech mediums.
Similarly, other types of bots you have might heard of, are social media accounts that have bots which only post a certain kind of information repeatedly. Bots are therefore gradually becoming a part of our technology experiences.
In this piece, we are going to focus on the class of bots that live online in chat platforms or on social media platforms called chatbots. They are designed such that, conversations between them and users mimic real-life human assistants.
Here at Mazzuma, we have an inbuilt chatbot on Facebook Messenger and Telegram. The Mazzuma chatbot simplifies processes such as sending money, paying a bill or answering general inquiries. It is very easy to use and synonymous to chatting with a friend or an operator. Instead of going through the app or website, you can simply use the chatbot on Facebook Messenger or Telegram.
Another interesting feature of the Mazzuma chatbot is that, it does not communicate in only English. It communicates in Ghanaian Pidgin as well. Pidgin English is commonly spoken across the West African sub-region. Pidgin is increasingly being recognized in other parts of the world as BBC recently launched dedicated pidgin news site. This is an important feature because it is an effective way of expanding our reach beyond the average educated Ghanaian. With the option of Pidgin English, we can reach Ghanaians within the local markets and this will consequently foster financial inclusion as technology has been made accessible all demographics as effortlessly as possible.
Financial and technological inclusion in Ghana and Africa at large is very important to us here at Mazzuma.

This quarter, we will be releasing a new and updated Mazzuma app that will incorporate our mobile money and MAZ token services in the app, to give you the freedom to move value at your convenience. Also, stay tuned of the announcement of our first crypto-exchange partner this quarter, as well as the proposed listing date. We are very excited about this.
SEAMLESS WEST AFRICA
On the 5th and 6th of November 2018, Mazzuma will be participating in the Seamless West Africa 2018 Conference at the Movenpick Hotel. Seamless is a dynamic summit and large-scale exhibition that will bring together the greatest international innovators from the payments, fintech & e-commerce industries as well as speakers are from across West Africa and beyond. It will be an exciting opportunity to meet and network with some of the greatest minds in Africa.
40 UNDER 40 GHANA
Over the weekend, our Director of Software Engineering; Nii Osae Osae Dade won an award in recognition for his work with Mazzuma at the 40 Under 40 Awards at Kempinski Hotel in the category of Telecom and Mobile/Software Development. We are extremely honoured to have our work and efforts recognised and we are motivated to keep on pushing the envelope in our field.
