August MBA Mama of the Month

LaToya Marc

Meet LaToya Marc, a wife and mother of one who begins her MBA at Harvard Business School this Fall. LaToya has a degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech. After graduation, she started her career in cash logistics at Bank of America. She taught math in Fulton County Public Schools as part of the 2008 Metro Atlanta Teach For America Corps. In 2009, she won Teacher of the Year. She later transitioned into TFA’s corporate office. Her most recent role with TFA is Chief of Staff, Admissions.

LaToya set out on her MBA journey with a goal of accelerating her career by moving into senior management positions within public education and government sector with focus on turnaround/improvement strategies for large, matrix organizations. Despite having concerns about being an MBA mom and having a relatively average GMAT (600), LaToya excelled during the application process and was admitted to several MBA programs, including HBS with > 100% tuition. In this introduction video, LaToya tells us about her family with a special focus on her adorable toddler, Kingston, as well as her decision to pursue her MBA at this time in her career.

During the first week of August, we’ll be unveiling LaToya’s full MBA Mama of the Month feature vlogs. Stay tuned for that!
