Kate graduated in 2016 in the top 10% of her Executive MBA Program at University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. She is a wife and mother of one. She describes her areas of expertise as “strategy, execution and mischief.” Currently, she is the Executive Director for Revenue and Operations of First Look Media, a media production company launched by eBay founder and philanthropist Pierre Omidyar. Kate oversees revenue, operations, and strategy for the nonprofit arm of the company, which houses The Intercept, Field of Vision, and the Press Freedom Defense Fund. Kate is focused on building a sustainable long term business model for these critical media voices, and growing their reach and impact. Kate leverages her fourteen years of progressively responsible experience at mission-driven organizations, and has grown to understand what it means to grow a business, whether it be non-profit or for profit.

Kate also contributes her years of expertise to the MBA Mama team as a Strategy Adviser to help our team grow and monetize our brand.

I wouldn’t have been able to get through the Executive MBA program at Darden, including receiving one of the faculty academic awards, without my amazing partner and my son.

Previously, Kate led growth strategy at Inside Higher Ed as the Vice President for Business Development, focusing on new product and corporate development and strategy. Prior to (and during) business school, Kate worked for more than eight years at NPR where she was Director of Business Partnerships and Strategy. In this role, she managed over 300 partnerships for NPR including efforts with Google, Facebook, Twitter, the Associated Press, and startups such as TuneIn and Stitcher.

In addition to her Darden MBA, Kate is also a proud alumna of and donor to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
