Dune was the first new fantasy book I have read in a very long time.

My favourite is the Sword of Truth series which I love.

Dune was not able to compare to it. Even though the world it describes is huge, intricate, interesting, colourful and huge, the story did not grasp my interest enough for me to read the remaining couple of parts of the Dune series.

The book reminded me of a mix of Star Wars and The Apprentice.

It is a well written book with really cool characters, who are really well described — but for some reason the reader doesn’t really connect to the characters well enough to identify themselves with them.
