My Beloved
DIARY ENTRY:
12–02 -2021
MY BELOVED
Dear Diary,
Her tired eyes had a glint in them today.
Our eyes met.
An unspoken message was delivered.
The fidgety gestures and silent tears.
All narrated a story only I could hear.
Her ring of betrothal was a metal
barrier amidst our twirling emotions.
We sat ten metres apart but were pushed miles away.
She held onto the railings and drifted past her fear.
Her fingers brushed against my skin and
I shivered.
The humour in our love was
Of a different understanding.
I laughed at her smile and made fun
At the expense of our misery.
Misery made my muse efficient at
Destroying what we could never express.
Unheard cries of longing and
Lost opportunities.
We exchange glances and
thrive in a routine of hiding.
We stand each day,
On either side of the station platform
Measuring the distance.
We could not discern whether
It was the railroad or
The unseen gap of construct that separated us.
