On Saturday, May 4, 2019, mClinica Health Solutions hosted a study group by Women Who Code Manila (Philippines). Women Who Code is the largest and most active organization for technical women in the world.

Azel and Michie explained that Women Who Code is an international non-profit organization that helps women excel in their tech careers. They create events such as study groups, conferences, hackathons, meetups to help women in tech level up and be equipped with the new changes in technology. They also help out tech companies make their workforce more diverse and inclusive.

Introduction to HTML & CSS

Azel Alyne Tan and her presentation

The first topic is HTML and CSS, Azel explained that these are the building blocks of websites. You can find the slides at this link.

The next speaker was Michie, she talked about using Javascript in HTML as a continuation of the original topic of Azel.

After a 60 minute work period, the participants presented their output in front of everyone and explained what, and how they did. This part was very important because they got direct feedback on where they could improve, and it’s an avenue for the other participants to also learn from other people.

Introduction to Game Development (Beginners)

Porch Pascual on and her Presentation

On a separate space, Porch Pascual did her presentation on Introduction to Game Development for Beginners. She explained that you can create games either by yourself or with a team. She used GameSalad which she explained was very easy to use. You can just drag and drop elements on the canvas so it is a great framework that can be used even by beginners.
