Learning about media has given me a new perspective on media and how it functions within society. The following images are few key concepts that really struck a cord. Hopefully other people that come across this find this interesting and leave this page having learned something new.

1)Media allows the people to spread the word on topics regarding social injustices, but people must also remember that change is not just achieved by liking, clicking posts (clicktivism, slacktivism) revolving around social issues.

2)Digital labour is not just about software developers, or people that create content but the people that construct the physical components of technology which enables people to use media, regardless people are exploited on all levels some more than others.

3) Communicating through media can be difficult at times because everyone has their own media ideology. Some people may find a email formal and cold while others may think the opposite. It all depends on each person’s own media ideology.

4) The media is heavily dominated by corporations. This hinders people from having a true social platform, since it is not accessible to everyone, it is privitatized allowing it to impose whatever beliefs it wants.

5) The sharing economy turns the concept of sharing into a tool to gain capital. The shared economy allows for people to get products and services at a cheaper price, and has allowed people to take on freelance work, but in turn it hurts local economies, and exploits workers.
