Take A Family Trip To The Birmingham Zoo!
The Birmingham Zoo is an ever-evolving adventure and guests come from all over the Southeast to check it out. With approximately 700 animals of 230 species and endangered species from six continents, the Birmingham Zoo’s 122-acre site is the perfect place to visit any time of the year.
History
In 1999, the Birmingham Zoo became an independent not-for-profit 501c (3) organisation. In the short time following this privatisation, the zoo has hosted travelling exhibits of extinct species. Trails of Africa features an elephant herd of exclusively male African elephants with ground and aerial observation opportunities that provide education and entertainment for thousands of visitors that can enjoy this cool experience. This is a chance to support and join a world-class global wildlife conservation effort!
Upcoming Events
Don’t miss the Pancakes & Princesses event on Saturday, August 17, in the Trails of Africa. Tickets include a fluffy pancake breakfast, a regal craft project, and many photo opportunities with zoo admission and an unlimited ride wristband. Costumes are encouraged and tickets are limited at $20 per child for members and $25 for non-members. Adult tickets are an additional $25–30 per ticket.
If you want to have something fun to do a little later in the day, Fairytales and Frogs Day starts at 10:00 AM and is really fun! Children are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costume for this magical day where fairytales come alive. Festivities are free for members or with paid admission to the zoo.
Hours
Zoo hours are from 9:00 AM — 5:00 PM during the week and 9:00 AM — 6:00 PM on the weekends. Tickets are $17 for adults & $12 for children (2–12 years old) and can be purchased at the gate or online. The train and carousel rides are $3.50 per person. Children under 2 years get in for free.
