Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor … fighting 7 “Uruks” at once.

A game to me is a challenge waiting to be conquered, with a story waiting to be told. Challenges that deliver a purpose but work together with the story to create a narrative. This narrative should be one that can be explored and experienced from the player’s point of view which delivers a unique perspective.

The Black-Hand of Sauron — Main Antagonists.

The goal of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is to defeat The Black Hand of Sauron in order to free the protagonist, Talion of his curse of immortality and finally ascend to the after life. Talion lived within the Black Gate which serves as the border/entrance to Mordor, while he served as a ranger. He was captured and killed by the Black Hand of Sauron as part of a dark ritual to return Celebrimbor, a historical Elven figure back from the dead. The wraith lord chose Talion as his host, granting him immortality and possession of wraith abilities.

Talion speaking to Celebrimbor, the Wraith Lord

Talion is told that he must defeat the Black Hand in order to free himself from this curse of immortality and finally join his family in the after life. In order to defeat the Black Hand of Sauron, Talion must defeat Uruk (orc) captains, to then defeat Uruk Warchiefs, to finally reach the Black Hand of Sauron. One man against an entire army.

Uruk Captain being promoted to Warchief.

As you eliminate captains, you receive Wraith Points which you can spend on different abilities from either the Ranger Class or Wraith Class. The more influential and powerful your foe is, the better the reward becomes.
