Big Tower Tiny Square

For this assignment, I had to play a lot of games on itch.io until I found one that was worth writing about. Big Tower Tiny Square is really fun, well developed, and it’s the type of game you just wanna keep playing.

As said on the screenshot above, the main character is a tiny purple square, and its main enemy is a big square, that stole its pineapple. So your goal on the game is to climb the big square’s tower to save your pineapple.

The screenshot above shows the game’s first level. Each level is like a different floor of the big tower. Once you reach the purple rectangle on the highest hallway, it lifts you to the second level/scene.

The game has very simple yet entertaining obstacles. The main ones are the walls themselves. You have to jump on them and climb them to reach the different hallways. The obstacles that kill you immediately and make you go back to the checkpoint are shown in the screenshot below. There is the red liquid (lava maybe?) “pools” (red circle), the guns that are attached to the top corners that follow your movement and shoot at you (blue circle), and the serrated spinning wheels (yellow circle).

I haven’t played the whole game, so I can’t write about what happens when you get to the end of it and save the pineapple. However, two short-term rewards I can name are the checkpoints (the almost transparent light green walls) and the walls that are lifted when you reach certain points of the game, opening a new passage (shown on screenshots above).
