Calorie filters are now available for Pro subscribers

Since making comprehensive nutritional information available to Pro subscribers last year, one of the most common requests we’ve received has been to allow recipe filtering in the meal planner by calories.

Today, I’m happy to announce that this is now possible! Here’s what this feature looks like:

Calorie Filters

To use the new calorie filters, please make sure to:

  1. Head over to Settings, then Eating Preferences
  2. Select Advanced under the header Meal Planner
  3. Build a new meal plan by tapping New on the Meal Plan screen
  4. Tap the search icon in the upper right hand corner of the meal planner
  5. Select any of the calorie filters

All of the recipes showing will now be within the calorie range you’ve selected.

Pro tip: for even more calorie control, tap the search bar after selecting a calorie filter. Then, modify the filter to be as precise as you want!

For example, you could do something like: Calories: 500–650

All recipes between 500 and 650 calories

Or, Calories: >700

All recipes 700 calories or greater

Or simply, Calories: 600

All recipes 600 calories (plus or minus 20 calories)

Calorie filters are our first step towards greater customization based on a recipe’s nutritional information. There’s lots we can do in this space, from enhanced calorie filters, to macronutrient filters, to overall health goals (like weight loss or weight gain). It’s exciting!

To use this feature, please download the latest versions of the app (2.9.5 on iOS and 1.5.3 on Android). And as always, please let us know what you think of it in the comments below or by shooting us an email (hello@mealime.com).
