Today writer Joe Hill shared — via his newsletter Escape Hatch that he has written a script for the first issue of a new comic book series:

“I wrote some new short stories and some new screenplays. I also wrote the script for the first issue of a brand new comic book series. Artist Martin Simmonds is not allowed to tell you anything about it.”

Hill did not share further details about the new comic book series, such as the comic’s title or publisher, or when the comic will be available to readers.

However, Hill’s reference to artist Martin Simmonds suggests that Simmonds (whose recent comics work includes the IDW series Punks Not Dead and the Vault series Friendo) will provide art for the new comic book series.

Hill’s prose work includes Heart-Shaped Box, Horns, NOS4A2, and The Fireman. His comics work includes the acclaimed Locke & Key series (with artist Gabriel Rodriguez) for which Hill won an Eisner Award for Best Writer in 2011.
