So I’ve agonized with this decision a bit.
This account was my main Medium account, my only Medium account initially, but after landing in Curation Jail and an algorithmic change that killed my earnings, I decided to stop posting here until I figured out what I wanted to do with the account.
Initially, I was going to shut it down altogether, but with Med Daily here, and having grown it to 1000 plus followers, I wasn’t sure I wanted to just throw that at all away. So for the past month, I’ve been thinking about what I was going to do.
I’ve been writing on my new-ish Medium account, the one I created when I first landed in Curation Jail, trying to grow it (with mixed results) all the while debating what was the best of course of action moving forward.
Well, I’ve finally decided to end Med Daily in its current form. While I will keep the magazine up, it will no longer be a general publication, but one solely focused on all things Medium.
I like writing about Medium.
I obviously don’t do so on my new account because I don’t want to end up in Curation Jail over there, but I miss writing about the changes on the platform, my successes and failures, and general Medium-ness.
So Med Daily will now be a publication about Medium and only Medium moving forward. So what does that mean for everyone who is currently an editor/writer for the pub?
Well, I’ve removed everyone as an editor and will begin removing content as well (you can do this yourself). Don’t worry, your content will just be self-published on your profile, nothing will happen to it.
If you’d like to be apart of the new Med Daily just respond to this post and I will add you as a writer. Remember, however, this is a Medium only publication now. If you aren’t writing Medium things than your submission won’t be accepted.
I’ve loved what we accomplished with Med Daily in such a short period of time. However it is time for a new chapter, as Medium changes, so must we. I look forward to what the future holds with Med Daily and look forward to working with all of you who decide to join me on this new-ish adventure.
’Til next time.
And as always: Happy writing.
