As the world is currently in the midst of the dangerous COVID-19 pandemic, there has been quite a lot of misinformation circulating in relation to the prevention or treatment of this deadly coronavirus-based respiratory illness. One such relatively convincing piece of misinformation claims that the consumption of large amounts of garlic could prevent one from contracting the COVID-19 infection.

One notable case came out of the Wuhan region in mainland China. Being the accepted ground zero for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, fears were extremely high amount the local population in the region during the initial coronavirus outbreak. It was reported that a single concerned woman from Wuhan has consumed close to 1.5 kilograms of raw garlic in one sitting leading to her hospitalization.

In conclusion, although it might seem harmless by most of the general public, the over-consumption of garlic does not prevent COVID-19 and is extremely harmful.
