On Jan 20th 2015 1pm, my team stayed in UW stratford campus to watch the movie “Avatar” and brainstorm together in order to finding out the totally some new views from different teammates and trying to understand the culture and habit in the Pandora planet.
Avatar is the epic science film which directed by James Carmeron. The first time I watched this movie is in my first year in university. At that time, I heard tons of positive comments about this movie before and I felt very excited to watch it. Therefore, when I first watched this “Hollywood style” epic science movie, I was shacked about the amazing animations and effects. I didn’t concentrated on its spot. Only I understood is a say-ending epic science story.
However, Prof. Jane ordered every teammates watched their selected movies individually before watched it again together. Everybody would bring their own curiosity and special point of view to watch it again. The second time I watched this movie with couples of demand and got some new message and comprehension from this movie.
On 1pm, Avatar launched at UW stratford campus third floor. Our teammates prepared couples of snack and beverage. I brought my powerful bluetooth louder speaker to improve the watching audio quality. The movie studio is so cool!
We spent three hours to watch avatar again and start “sacrificial concepts” brainstorming. So what is sacrificial concepts? Please watch this following video and get some details. Or we can say that sacrificial concepts could lead us find out the core information and work more efficiency and consideration.
We quickly pointed out some concepts about Pandora planet, such as
-Town hall
-Education
-Cooking
-Grooming
-Entertainment
-Cloths
After that, We voted together and decide to brainstorm for Cooking in Pandora planet first. Every teammates tried to open their minds and pitch more ideas and understanding for it. We use a whole white board to display our brainstorming process. We separated the concept of cooking with beliefs and facts. And we separated the concept of entertainment with beliefs, assumptions and facts.
The cooking concept we listed these following ideas:
· Fire
· Cutlery/ pots/ plates
· Ingredients/ seasoning
· Dining area
· Cleaning
· Water
· food
And the entertainment concept we also listed these coming thoughts:
· Singers
· Symphony/ musical instruments
· Games
· Dancing
· Theater
· Flying around
· Sex
We march huge step today but it’s too late though. We will figure out the rest of our concept sooner or later.
