Michelle Betz has over 20 years of experience working as a journalist, journalism professor, media development practitioner and researcher. Her expertise includes media in conflict, and post conflict, election reporting, and health reporting.

She is the owner of Betz Media Consulting and has worked with organisations around the world to support the development of professional and independent media and specializes in working with media in conflict-affected environments.

Her past clients include UNESCO, International Media Support (IMS), the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), Institut Panos Paris, and the U.S. State Department.

Currently, she is consulting for IMS on media support in the Central African Republic. She is based out of the U.S.

At the round table, Betz will make a presentation on conflict in the Central African Republic and how it has impacted local journalists in that country.
