Fighting fake news and misinformation on-line

  1. Research: Find a recent example of “fake news”

2.Analyze: Describe how and why that “fake news” is functioning and spreading

a.What makes your example “fake news”? Defend your position

b.Who is responsible for the creation of this “fake news” item?

c.What are their motives? (For example: political persuasion, financial gain, to disrupt the system, to discredit a particular individual, etc…)

3.Evaluate: How are people responding (if at all)? How is the journalistic and education community fighting back?

4.Respond: Develop a recommendation for what we should do next

a.What else should be done to respond to ”fake news”

b.If there isn’t yet a response to this “fake news”, what should be done?
