“Star Wars: Underworld” was announced by George Lucas in 2005, as the proposed first live-action television series based on the legendary franchise. Planned to take place between the events of “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope,” 50 scripts were said to be written in addition to some expensive test footage.

The series had intended to transport us into the underground of “Star Wars” lore, with a concentration on a “Blade Runner”-inspired Coruscant.

In the below released clip, a rebel searches for plans for an Imperial Star Destroyer …

Lucas, however, ultimately decided the show would be too expensive to produce, and finally announced the future of the franchise was to remain with possible new features.

Today, all these years later with the smash success of Disney+’s “The Mandalorian,” revisiting this idea may not be something to so easily dismiss.
