Is it any good?

Lord Voldemort — Harry Potter

On September 15, a team of Harry Potter fans released the first part of a short movie titled The House of Gaunt after a year of teasing. This indie movie tells the story of Lord Voldemort’s upbringing and was made with only 62,000 euros, entirely funded by fans.

I’m proud to say that this short movie was made by fellow French Film professionals, and it’s really well done. The film is in English and the special effects are impressive, especially for an indie movie with such a small budget. Combined with beautiful decor and costumes, The House of Gaunt will take you right back to the wizarding world.

This first part looks beautiful, but I‘ve been a bit disappointed by the story. Actually, there’s not much story and a lot of action. It’s definitely entertaining and cool to see Voldemort’s family, but I hope the second part of The House of Gaunt will go farther than just walking us through the making of the Horcruxes.

Even though this first part looks more like a trailer, I think it’s worth watching for any Harry Potter fans out there. The cast is amazing and young Voldemort is impressively impersonated by French actor Maxence Danet-Fauvel. I can’t wait to see the second part.
