Ethnography Comic

Below is a comic that I have created to represent how I might be using ethnography during my internship this summer. My goal was to accurately depict myself gathering field notes about a virtual ethnographic topic in the work space. The virtual system that I am gathering research on is an employee database called Innotas that is used to make project planning more efficient.

I believe that the intersectionality between anthropology and design plays a big role in my comic. In the comic, I have depicted myself studying an online database so that I can provide answers to essential questions like how employees are using the database and how this database will affect the work space. Santee states in her article that “Design needs anthropology” because it is necessary to understand the effects these virtual spaces have on people. This is an example of exactly what I will be doing by gathering data, so that I can help provide a better database for employees.
