This is a audio clip that I pieced together using different poems, spoken word, and speeches. One is of Malcolm X speaking on the way that society treats/views black women. Another is Kerry Washington reciting a famous speech given by Sojourner Truth at a women’s convention in 1851. And the final clip is a spoken word poem recited by T. Miller.

All of the clips speaks to the way that black women have been treated over time. I picked each clip because it follows a timeline of history to show that not much has changed over the years. From Sojourner Truth speaking about women’s rights in the 1800’s, to Malcolm X fighting for civil rights in the 50’s and 60’s, all the way up to present day. It is important for oppressed groups to expose inequality and social injustices.
