Words of wisdom from a long time Baltimore resident.

During the afternoon of Thursday, April 13th I began interviewing random residents of Station North about changes they have witness in the neighborhood and their opinion upon gentrification. On this afternoon, I meet a kind older women who has been a long time resident of the neighborhood. In the interview she expresses concern about the changes Baltimore City is currently going through. Through her words, it seems that the people of Baltimore City, specifically Black residents, feel ignored and unwanted. She states, “They are buying up all the areas where the poor Blacks use to live. They are not buying us sweetheart they are tearing it down. And they are pushing our brother and sister out in the county. Way into the county like they don’t want to be bother with us”. Her statement appears to be describing the displacement of Black people out of the city into the county.
