Through extensive research, observing people in the proper environment, and interviewing a number of people, I have been able to develop a theory based on my topic. That theory is, in today’s age of social media and technology, the usage of mobile technology and media is essential in connecting many people together, and in Christian communities, it’s not only essential in aiding to create a loving atmosphere, but also in helping to grow those respective communities.

This theory is one that only makes sense today. Ten years ago, you wouldn’t have been able to say the same. With social media sites thriving, and technology continuing to grow and expand, people have become extremely reliant on these things. The other day I was watching CNN, something that doesn’t happen often, and I was taken aback by how Twitter seemed to be everywhere; it was even the topic of discussion. One of the anchors noted how people will often see something on Twitter and run with it, even without knowing the context of it. While that is a shame, it’s also our reality. Twitter to many, is one of the most reliable sources of information. If I’m being honest, there are a number of huge news events that I wouldn’t know about if it weren’t for Twitter or some other social media site.

With this being said, the fact that social media is such an ideal way to share information, makes it the perfect way for Christian communities to share among themselves and the world. This essentially increases the reach of these communities, who are able to reach people from even across the globe that they never would have met otherwise. In other words, it enables people to be exposed to Christian communities that may be new to them. In some cases, people may feel that they belong in that community, which can subsequently lead to increased membership, and among those already apart of the communities, it will help them feel included, loved, important, and much more.
