Le flâneur was a man with unique style that would be commonly known today as a loiterer, traveling the streets of the city with no destination, capturing the aesthetic scenery, and eavesdropping on conversations. The flâneur would immerse himself within the crowd, becoming one with others and feeling as if at home. He would not only take interest in the beauty of art, but would follow the current trends of his time.

That said, here are three examples of digital objects that a flâneur might have in the modern day.

The digital camera enables the flâneur to capture the aesthetics of the city as he wanders about. He will have immense joy in observing and capturing scenes with this newly acquired device.

The tablet to a flâneur may act as a note taking device, as well as a directional guide while traveling through the streets. He will be able to write down what others say and record any other information he finds necessary.

The fitbit watch allows for the flâneur to keep track of time if needed, as well as knowing how many steps he’d taken through his stroll around the city. Each device chosen follows the current developments of technology and trends that appeal to the human eye.
