For this experiment we were required to create a video based on the virtual community struggles with Personhood.

In the video you are about to watch I tried carefully to put together some pictures and music that would best illustrate a struggle with Boellstorff’s definition of personhood. People who participate in online virtual worlds have a role they can assume or basically an online identity. My ultimate goal for the video was to give you an idea that if you meet someone online through these platforms they may not be who they actually are. As a former player I’ve met grown men playing the role of a stripper in SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) and have met a lady who only made and played male characters. Individuals who has been playing for a long time on virtual online worlds can spot a noob (someone who is new to the game) in an instant. Some people have made multiple accounts because they like role-playing other characters. This video helps illustrates what people could possibly be through online virtual worlds.
