Where’s the Line Between Addiction and Appreciation? An American Relationship to Technology.
Last week, I tried to meet a friend for dinner. We had agreed on the restaurant and the time, but 15 minutes before we were supposed to meet, my phone died. I ended up standing outside the restaurant for 20 minutes hoping she would see me, while she sat in her car waiting for me to text her that I had arrived. We eventually found each other, but the whole event made me eerily aware of how big a role technology plays in my life. This has certainly changed from the previous generations who somehow managed to make plans without being able to text.
