In Iraq’s Mosul, people are risks their lives by drinking unsafe water.

In Mosul, the populations have being facing a lot of problems such as lack of foods and electricity and now, because of the last battle in Mosul in October 17th, which destroyed a major water pipeline in Mosul, more than 500.000 of them are facing a problem to access a clean water. This situation is “impact on all populations such as children and women, but mostly those who lives in an eastern neighborhood recently retaken from Daesh”, said Lise Grande from UN humanitarian coordinator in Iraq. This catastrophic should be restored soon; otherwise the civilians will risk their life drinking unsafe water, which can result in several diseases such as diarrhea and mal-nutrition. Said the Mosul’s resident, Mohamed Khalil.

At a hospital in the village of Gogjali on the eastern of Mosul, a medical source said that the civilians starting to arrive to the hospital with “cases of diarrhea and intestinal cramps, especially among children”. Said the secret in Mosul general of the local civil society organization, Abdelkarim al-Obeidi.

The populations of the Mosul are hope that, the government as well as organizations International, must step up and offer assistance to the people, especially those families who have being forced to drink the water from the wells that is not fit for drinking,” he said.

The water is the most important thing in our lives.

People need it for almost everything in their daily life, like for drink, make our foods, washing our clothes, cleaning our houses and etc. “We aren’t washing. We are going to catch lice and our homes are filthy,” said Iman Baker, a 34-year-old mother of three who lives in an eastern neighborhood.
