Essay:

This creative project had many setbacks and challenges that came along with it. The direction I went about for my creative project was to create a podcast. The podcast goes in-depth about the dangers and negative effects social comparison has within social media on young women. Creating the podcast itself and developing the themes to go along with it was very challenging. There were many directions I could have gone with this topic, but I wanted to make sure it all connected. Finding a balance and making sure the material all made sense took a lot of my time. I tried to find resources to back up each topic and make sure it’s digestible for those who listen. The next challenge was recording the podcast and understanding the software. It is the first time I have ever recorded a podcast or even used the Anchor software. I had time to learn how to use it and develop my voice. I didn’t want to sound monotone or talk too fast. I aimed to sound charming but also be professional and engaging. Developing a script did have some challenges since I struggled to find a format that fit me. I am very thankful I took the time to create one since it was helpful to keep my thoughts organized and not go off on too many tangents. This project did have many obstacles that came across as I went about this project. Being able to overcome them was very rewarding and I am very proud of my work.

Now, when it comes to solving those obstacles, that is a different story. Developing my voice for this podcast was very hard for me. I was able to get over that by doing my research and listening to my favorite podcasts. I took notes on how they put themselves out there and took notes on their voice. I watched many videos on how to develop your podcast voice and put them to practice. It also ties in with my struggles in creating the podcast. There were a lot of retakes and edits when I stumbled across my words which frustrated me a lot. I learned to take things easy and try not to rush them since it takes some time. There will always be errors when it comes to projects like this. Taking time to start over if I needed to and not be so hard on myself was helpful. I also had my family listen in to tell me if they had any critiques or tips to better it. Having criticism was extremely helpful since it allowed me to fix any mistakes or add the tips they gave me. The next challenge was developing the script, which I finished before the recording. I was able to use the template that was on Castos which was helpful to keep me organized. The template made it easier to record since I had everything written out. The biggest challenge was managing my time when tackling this project. Every day I made sure to work on one thing at a time and take things slowly. Overall, this project did have many obstacles, but I overcame each one by taking my time and not rushing it. One of my goals was to create a podcast and learn how to do it. I was given that opportunity with this project which taught me the hard work that goes into it. I am proud of taking this direction and sticking with it despite the challenges. It is an experience I will never forget and be proud of.
