I can’t tell if #Facebook deleting the “Terror of War” image is an abuse of its censorship powers. While it is an important photo, the child didn’t give consent, it has child nudity, and it can be disturbing. Maybe a disturbing content warning would have been better. #COM520

.@TarletonG referred to #Facebook as “the world’s most powerful editor.” With how they impact media, especially with the recent revelation that they knew of the effects their site has on politics and how it has led to violence, that feels like the perfect title for them. #COM520

It’s scary that social media sites have the power to control what we see. Especially since they can be manipulated to push fake stories and cause political discourse. Something should be done to take away their power, perhaps by forcing them to be politically neutral. #COM520

.@TarletonG book “Custodians of the Internet” highlights the pros and cons of social media. While we can connect with anyone, it allows people with hateful opinions to form hate groups. Is talking with your friends online worth people spreading hate and misinformation? #COM520

.@TarletonG once claimed social media moderation was improving, but recently the opposite has been revealed. Facebook has a separate moderating system for big figures like #Tedcruz that lets them post hateful content without it being taken down. #COM520

.@TarletonG once said, “Content moderation is hard.” I believe this, but I think more should be done. Though I worry about what would happen with too much moderation. There should be a balance where users are banned for hate speech but still have their freedom of speech. #COM520
