Amsterdam, Netherlands — September 11, 2015 — Medialooks today announced a new version of MFormats SDK with support for capture and playout boards by Australian company Bluefish444 (booth 7.J07 at IBC2015), a manufacturer of uncompressed SDI video I/O cards used in professional applications within the broadcast and post production industries.

Medialooks performed the integration on a high-end Supernova S+ board, which provides the maximum I/O in Bluefish’s current product line. “The Supernova S+ board is our flagship model, it provides the maximum I/O, — says Craige Mott, Managing Director at Bluefish. — “We expect Medialooks to check this integration with a couple of other products from the Epoch line, that are available in mobile form factors and are frequently used in a Thunderbolt expansion chassis.”

All Bluefish cards feature 12-bit processing pipeline, full-duplex DMA and the industry’s lowest I/O latency and Thunderbolt compatibility. The Supernova S+ is a 4-channel bi-directional 3G SDI board retailing for $3995. The Epoch Neutron line features include 4K SDI and 4K HDMI, simultaneous preview, a low-latency hardware keyer and a low-profile form factor. MSRP ranges from $1695 to $2195. Eventually, both MFormats and MPlatform SDKs will support the full range of the vendor’s OEM I/O products.

With MFormats SDK Medialooks targets professional developers in a variety of video playback and capture applications, including those of the production, broadcast, and digital signage markets. The framework provides an easy way to access and manipulate video frames without ever thinking about audio/video synchronization, memory loss, and video decoding issues. MFormats provides a single video interface for all supported I/O devices and automatically updates it when new properties become available on the device. The API contains built-in methods for scaling, video mixing, frame rate conversion and text overlay.

“Bluefish provides a nice SDK,” — says Boris, Medialooks CTO, — we managed to complete the integration quite fast. The whole package that Bluefish provides is pretty solid.”
