Let‘s kick off the Corona blues…

Mobile working and team spirit — who says these two can’t go together?

100 creative heads from all over Online Sales channels at MediaMarktSaturn came together for 2 days to create something amazing. Focusing on the motto “Create the change you want”, we brainstormed, argued, developed and yes, some snow man building was also involved… All for enhancing our customers’ shopping experience in our online shop and app.

The level of energy was high in this hybrid set-up. Online and in the office, people were fighting for the most innovative ideas. The topics ranged from technical topics to improve Developer Experience to supporting the customer in their purchasing decisions.

The winning team was implementing a better comparison of products with the same attributes.

The silver medal won a pitch at augmented reality. Looking at products on their smartphones, customers could proceed to see a selected store’s layout and where to find their desired product(s) in that store.

The bronze team improved the browsing experience for our customers in order to find the best product seamlessly.

After 2 exhausting days (#RunningOnCoffeine) the ideas were pitched to the jury (consisting of one of our managing directors and managers from engineering and business area) and 4 ideas were chosen, including a spontaneous special price for technical excellence.

It was a hard race — not only our winning teams showed great performance, the other teams presented awesome results as well. Our product teams will be very busy in the near future implementing these great features for our customers.

The outcome makes us proud, as it shows the level of commitment, energy and teamwork we know and love. What a ride it was!
