Mathrubhumi today has a frontpage report on 17,000kgs of dates reaching the UAE consulate in the past 3.5 years. Here is a 2017 report from The Hindu on what it was meant for- gift from the UAE rulers to 40,000 special school students in Kerala. They had sent 18 tonnes of dates for this purpose.

Mathrubhumi has presented this as some kind of shady deal with lines like “it is unbelievable that all this is for the consumption of UAE consulate officials”. Attempts to link it to gold smuggling have also been made. Pathetic.

The ongoing Koran issue and the organised attacks against Minister K.T.Jaleel is over a similar cooked up allegation.
